christmas craziness 2007

Soooo sleepy. The whole lack of light thing really gets me.

It’s hard to believe that we’re only a couple days away from Thanksgiving festivities, and that means that Christmas is not far behind. Ack, the dreaded C-word! Oh, who am I kidding? I pretend to be a Scrooge, but I really love the lights, the decorations, the music, the movies, and yes, even the snow (it’s nice for the first month, at least).

Tim’s probably groaning inwardly because I’ve already flooded our Netflix queue with Christmas movies. In an attempt to ease into the Christmas spirit, I spent this evening watching Nightmare Before Christmas, and I downloaded a copy of Santa Claus: the Movie (does anyone else remember that one? Dudley Moore, John Lithgow, etc.?)

Also, I may or may not have been singing Christmas carols in the shower the other morning. I’ll never tell.

I think this year I want to make a gingerbread house, so I’m hunting for tried-and-true recipes for royal icing and gingerbread cookies (suggestions, anyone?). I have no idea what we’ll do for a tree (new kitten + small living room + tree = recipe for disaster) but we’ll work something out. I really like the idea of getting a small potted tree–something we could put on the porch during the year and bring inside to decorate at Christmas–but I doubt my abilities to keep a live plant… alive. My poor philodendron will attest to my complete lack of a green thumb.

OK, I’m totally annoying myself with the Christmas chatter. You know I’m only doing this because it’s Day 19 and my brain has started leaking out my ears… whatever. Goodnight!
